Details of three further presentations at the 2026 National Road Safety Conference have been published, with Waymo featuring in the autonomous vehicle session and Road Safety GB and the NFCC among the opening keynote speakers.
The 16th National Road Safety Conference takes place at The Queens Hotel, Leeds, on 24-25 November 2026, and is sponsored by GEM Motoring Assist, Jenoptik, SmartStart, Waymo and Westcotec.
The support of the conference sponsors helps Road Safety GB deliver its flagship annual event, which brings together around 400 road safety professionals from across the UK and much further afield.
Priscilla Mensah, public affairs manager UK at Waymo, will use her presentation to demonstrate that autonomous vehicles are no longer science fiction and that Waymo has the safety data to back up this reality.
She will invite delegates to learn more about Waymo’s safety record and explain how the company is building trust with constituencies in the UK and beyond.
In their double-header presentation titled, Challenges and Opportunities for the Road Safety Profession, Road Safety GB’s Nicola Foster and James Gibson will explore the changing landscape facing the road safety profession, while highlighting practical measures and opportunities that can provide confidence and optimism for the future of road safety service delivery.
Nicola Foster, chair of Road Safety GB, will examine the key challenges and opportunities facing the road safety sector as we approach 2027. Drawing on her national perspective, as well as her experience working at partnership level through her significant contribution to the Safer Essex Roads Partnership, Nicola will consider the wider environment in which road safety professionals are operating and what this means for the future of the sector.
James Gibson, executive director of Road Safety GB, will then build on this context by reflecting on the successes and achievements of Road Safety GB in recent years. He will set out how the organisation can support its members and subscribers to respond to the challenges ahead, take advantage of emerging opportunities, and continue to thrive in the vital work of improving road safety and reducing casualties.
Together, the two elements of the presentation will provide a clear view of where the profession is heading and a practical perspective on how Road Safety GB can help its members and the wider sector strengthen road safety delivery for the future.
Finally, Leanne McMahon, Deputy Road Safety Lead for the National Fire Chief Council (NFCC), will set out where the Fire and Rescue Service is heading with regard to road safety as we look towards 2027.
Leanne will share NFCC’s new Road Safety Position Statement, outlining the organisation’s future direction with a focus on data-led interventions and multi-agency partnerships.
