Local authorities and private sector companies in the UK are being encouraged to enter the 2015 PRAISE Awards which recognise organisations that have made an outstanding commitment to improving work-related road safety.
The European Transport Safety Council’s (ETSC) PRAISE project addresses the safety aspects of driving at work, and driving to work. The project’s aim is to promote best practice in order to help employers achieve high road safety standards for their employees.
The annual awards are presented in three categories according to the size and type of organisation: SME (small-medium enterprise); large company; and public authority. The winners are chosen by an independent panel of experts appointed by ETSC.
The criteria include: an innovative approach to work related road safety; target setting and monitoring; evidence of a return on investment; evidence of improved crash rate and casualty reduction; and engaging with the organisation’s staff and senior management.
Past winners include Arriva Denmark, The Hellenic Air Force, Royal Dutch Shell, Electricity Supply Board, Bolk Transport and BT.
The PRAISE Awards’ entry form can be downloaded from the ETSC website. The closing date for entries is 3 August 2015 and the awards will be presented at the annual PRAISE conference in Brussels in autumn 2015.
