The 2025 National Young Rider Day will take place on Wednesday 11 June – when the focus across the country will be on young motorcyclists.
As a result of the cost-of-living crisis, more and more young people are choosing to ride a motorcycle to work, college, or simply to get around.
Founded by the National Young Rider Forum (NYRF) in 2023, this event celebrates that choice – and helps young riders stay safe on the road.
The 2025 edition has been timed to coincide with the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s (NPCC) annual two-wheel operation, which takes place between 2-15 June.
The NYRF is also working with TyreSafe on a campaign to educate young riders on the importance of tyre safety, set to also launch in June.
Preparations are well underway for the day itself, and the NYRF is keen to hear from local authorities and emergency services who would like to participate.
For example, in 2024 Essex Police and the Safer Essex Roads Partnership delivered a roadshow at which attendees used a P2W Simulator – originally devised for police rider training purposes – to test their muscle memory, reflexes, skill sets.
Other police forces who supported the campaign engaged with young riders to discuss important topics such as PPE, bike maintenance, Highway Code knowledge and riding while under the influence of drink or drugs.
