A pilot training scheme for moped and motorcycle riders is being expanded to include anyone who rides in Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire.

The ‘Take Control’ course offer riders of any type of machine – from a first scooter to a large sports bike – the opportunity to improve their skills, confidence and temperament for no or very low cost.

Stephen Rumble, Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership, says: “We are working with very experienced advanced instructors who are able to follow a training format of defensive road riding, while also tailoring a practical on-road session to suit each motorcyclist’s level of experience and the type of riding that they do.”

The scheme was developed following a research programme that considered Warwickshire motorcyclist’s behaviour, attitudes and motivations.

Stephen Rumble adds: “The courses are intended to be enjoyable as well as informative and we are hoping all manner of motorcyclists will take up this offer during the better biking months.”
