Booking is now open for PACTS next ‘in-person’ conference, ‘Equality in transport safety’, which is being held in London next month.

The conference overview says that while transport is relevant to everyone, using transport is not equally safe for everyone. It is no longer good enough to improve things for the majority – policies and services are expected to demonstrate consideration of the needs of all users.

Through the conference PACTS* aims to highlight places where improvements in equality have been achieved, as well as bring to light areas where inequality has been identified and is being addressed.

The programme will include speakers from Thatcham Research, Birmingham City Council, SoMo, Guide Dogs UK, and TfL, as well as the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The conference is being held on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at the Royal College of Anaesthetists, London.

Registration is now open, with the deadline for early bird bookings ending on 19th September.

* The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) is a registered charity, set up ‘to protect human life through the promotion of transport safety for the public benefit. PACTS’ aim is to advise and inform members of the House of Commons and of the House of Lords on air, rail and road safety issues. It brings together safety professionals and legislators to identify research-based solutions to transport safety problems having regard to cost, effectiveness, achievability and acceptability. In recent years PACTS has paid increasing attention to the links between transport safety, sustainability and public health.
