Junior road safety officers at a primary school in Hackney have produced a music video in a bid to raise awareness around the need to stay focused when crossing the road.

The pupils from Kingsmead Primary School teamed up with staff to produce the video, which can be viewed here.

The video encourages everyone to use safer crossings -as well as to ‘Stop, Look, Listen (and Think)’.

The JRSO programme is coordinated by Max Moorcock, road safety officer at Hackney Council.

He said: “The first timeI saw the video, I couldn’t have been more impressed.

“I hope it goes on not just to inspire and educate Kingsmead, but the rest of the schools in the borough and across London.”

Kingsmead Primary School only joined the JRSO programme in February. Alongside the video, they have been finding out about what parents feel are the pressing road safety issues in the area.

They have also launched a competition to raise awareness among road users of the need to take extra care around their school.
