The popular Teddy story books, which promote in-car and pedestrian safety for children, parents and carers, celebrate their 21st birthday this year.
The resource is produced by the Road Safety GB North West region, who says its messages are as relevant today as when they were first produced.
The simple story line features Billy and Teddy.
Teddy Takes a Tumble tells the story of a car ride where Teddy is carelessly thrown on the back seat by Billy and as the journey progresses the car is involved in a crash. Teddy is thrown forward against the car window screen.
Billy is saved by being in his car seat, a simple but effective storyline that can be shared by children and adults together.
Teddy Takes a Walk follows on from Teddy Takes a Tumble and promotes child pedestrian safety with an age group still reliant on parent/carer supervision.
It features Billy, Teddy and Mummy on their route from home to school and highlights the various potential risks an unsupervised child would encounter and offers advice to the adult on how to make the journey safer.
Both the books, which received a major revamp in 2020, are offered in A5 and A3 format and are ideal for the promotion of storytelling, listening skills and reading.

Happy Birthday Teddy, your stories are still very popular in the North west region
