Road Safety Support International (RSSi), advocacy and partner to Road Safety Support Ltd, has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

The accolade was presented by HM The Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs. Jennifer Tolhurst, at a ceremony held on 23 January at Leez Priory, Essex. This honour recognises RSSi’s ‘exceptional contributions to enhancing road safety worldwide’.

Since its establishment in 2008, RSSi has worked with police and highway authorities, sharing British expertise in road safety strategy and enforcement on an international scale.

The organisation has operated in thirty countries across North America, South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia.

Its collaborative approach involves partnerships with government agencies, non-profit organisations, and industry stakeholders, fostering knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the adoption of best practices.

RSSi says this strategy has driven significant improvements in road safety standards, promoting effective enforcement solutions worldwide.

Domestically, Road Safety Support provides critical assistance to most police forces, highway authorities, and safer roads partnerships across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Trevor Hall, director of RSSi, said: “We are delighted that the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our staff have been recognised. Reducing the number of lives lost on roads is more than just our mission—it’s our passion. By supporting police forces, governments, and third-sector organisations, both nationally and internationally, we are contributing to creating safer communities and saving lives.”

“It was a tremendous honour to receive this award from HM The Lord-Lieutenant of Essex and to share our journey with such distinguished guests.”

Antonio Avenoso, executive director of the European Transport Safety Council, said: “This award exemplifies the passion, vision, and unwavering commitment of RSS International to road safety work.

“I can’t think of a more deserving organisation in the field. Seeing their sustained efforts and determination honoured with such a prestigious award is truly wonderful.”
