Road safety teams can now order the new 2026/27 Young Driver’s Guide and Parent’s Guide from FirstCar, with stock available for immediate delivery.
The two publications have been combined into a single 132-page, flip-format edition, with the Young Driver’s Guide presented from one cover and the Parent’s Guide from the other.
The move follows feedback from road safety teams, which highlighted the popularity of the Young Driver’s Guide – and the fact that young people regularly took copies home – while the Parent’s Guide was proving harder to get into the hands of parents.
James Evans from FirstCar said: “It was such an obvious choice to combine these titles, and I can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner! Now young drivers are doing the hard work getting the magazines into the home and can share this single resource with their parents.”
The combined publication has also been completely redesigned for 2026/27 by newsstand magazine designer Dan Hilliard. The new edition includes features designed to encourage conversations between young drivers and their parents, including a ‘lift home voucher’ aimed at helping families discuss coping strategies alongside building road safety knowledge.
Limited stock available
FirstCar has also changed its approach to printing, moving away from one large annual print run towards smaller, more frequent runs.
The change is intended to reduce rising storage costs while ensuring publications remain current for longer. For road safety teams, it means stock is finite and can move quickly, but orders can be fulfilled rapidly.
Orders placed now can be delivered in as little as 48 hours, making the publications suitable for autumn road safety events and freshers’ activity.
Current stock includes:
- Young Driver’s Guide / Parent’s Guide combo: 29,915 copies
- Ride On: 18,249 copies
- First Bike: 9,889 copies
- Drive On: 12,410 copies
- Ultimate Guide to Cycling: 8,430 copies
The 2025/26 editions of Ride On, First Bike and Drive On are also available at a reduced rate while stocks last, alongside The Ultimate Guide to Cycling. New editions of all titles are due to be published in March 2027.
