With interest in presenting at the 2023 National Road Safety Conference at record levels, other potential speakers are being encouraged to submit their paper as soon as possible.
The 2023 National Conference is being held at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel, near Cirencester in Gloucestershire on 15-16 November. It is being hosted by Road Safety GB South West regional group and sponsored once again by Jenoptik and Westcotec.
Road Safety GB launched the conference earlier this month, alongside a call for papers.

More than 30 submissions have already been received from people interested in speaking at the conference – and while there is no specific deadline, the conference committee is encouraging other potential speakers to submit as soon as possible.
Anyone interested in presenting is asked in the first instance to provide the following, by email to Nick Rawlings:
- Title and brief overview/abstract of proposed presentation (a single paragraph will suffice)
- Brief speaker biog (again a single paragraph will suffice)
The 2023 agenda will retain successful and established elements of the programme including opening keynote presentations, Question Time and the quickfire ‘Speed Dating’ session.
The emphasis for the rest of the programme is to focus on practical presentations (where possible) ideally delivered by authorities who have embraced the Safe System / Vision Zero approach, covering: how they got started, where they are on their safe system journey, lessons learned/ help, advice and suggestions for colleagues who have not yet fully embarked on this journey.
The committee is also keen to include presentations focusing on the five Safe System ‘foundations’: Roads & Roadsides, Vehicles, Road User Behaviour, Post-collision Response and Speed.
There will also once again be a Fringe programme and ‘Topical Topics’ session to accommodate presentations that don’t fit into the Safe System theme.
