Guy Opperman, minister for roads and local transport, has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s Young Driver Focus.

Organised by FirstCar, Young Driver Focus is heralded as the most established young driver event in the road safety calendar. It explores the latest research, ideas and interventions for newly qualified drivers.

The 2024 edition takes place at the prestigious RAC Club in London, on 22 May.

The agenda for the event is nearing completion, following the announcement of Guy Opperman as keynote speaker.

Mr Opperman was appointed minister for roads and local transport in November 2023.

He will provide delegates with an update on government policy.

The full agenda is available via the Young Driver Focus website, and includes an update on the young driver training and testing industry from the DVSA, as well as a presentation looking at TikTok – described as the next frontier in young driver engagement.

The agenda also features a number of other young driver initiatives from across the country, with a few more presentations still to be announced.

Delegate registration remains open, with a discounted rate available for Road Safety GB members.
