Four years after its formation in 2019, the RSGB Analysts Champions Network is seeking new members to contribute to discussion and debate on collision and casualty data, develop innovative analytical approaches, participate in research and share best practice.
The Analysts Network provides an opportunity for those with skills and expertise in collecting, analysing, and reporting on road safety data to share ideas. Members come from a variety of backgrounds including local authorities, police forces, fire and rescue services, NGOs and consultancies and the Department for Transport.
The group also helps shape the RSGB analysts’ support programme including the successful annual Joining the Dots conference. Those who choose to participate in the quarterly discussions have the opportunity to share the work they are undertaking locally and signpost others to work being carried out elsewhere. Being a ‘Champion’ also provides opportunities to earn CPD credits and network with other specialists.
Will Cubbin, Road Safety GB Director of Research and Chair of the Analysts’ Network, said: “The work of the Champions has covered a wide variety of topics in the past including changes to STATS19 reporting, evaluating innovative research programmes, organising regional meetings and hosting roundtable events.
“With the much-anticipated DfT Road Safety Framework appearing this year, and with an expected focus on performance indicators, now is a critical time for the profession to be working together to understand the data landscape supporting safe system approaches.”
The Network’s programme of work for 2023/24 is currently being decided and will be revealed via the organisation’s website in due course.
For those with a less substantial interest in the topic, but who nevertheless want to engage with fellow professionals, the Analysts’ Network Microsoft Teams channel provides an excellent forum in which to ask questions and support others. Access to this resource is also via the website.
Anyone interested in engaging with the Analysts’ Network and taking part in any of these activities is invited to complete this brief application form.
