A production company working on behalf of the BBC is seeking help from road safety professionals with a new programme about young and inexperienced drivers, and the devastating consequences of a fatal crash.
The BBC is currently researching the new programme, to be broadcast on BBC3, which will look the anatomy of a car crash involving young and inexperienced drivers.
The programme will also be used by the BBC’s learning department as a learning tool, which could incorporate workshops and information packs for schools.
The programme will look at issues including: what happens when a car crashes? When the emergency services are alerted, what processes kick in? How is the crash site pieced together to reveal a picture of what happened?
Most importantly, the programme will look at the human aspects of a fatal collision, exploring the devastating impact on family, friends and community.
The programme will be broadcast on BBC3 in order to help raise awareness about the dangers of the road. 41% of all fatally injured drivers are aged between 16 and 29 and BBC3 has an audience of 16-34 year olds.
