Campaign calls for bikers’ input

A new road safety initiative for motorcyclists has been launched and is seeking support from the motorcycling community.

Recently launched at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Live event at the NEC in Birmingham, ‘Get a Grip’ is campaigning about the dangers of manhole covers, potholes, and gravel, as their sudden appearance can be hazardous to motorcyclists.

The organisers say the campaign has the support of those involved in highway construction and casualty reduction, but that motorcyclists are the people who will make it a success. They are calling on bikers to sign a petition and report road deficits and slippery manhole covers.

I believe that MAGS has some involvement with this and one can get on through a link from their site.

Basically I believe that it is not just about grip problems on manhole covers but can now be a more widespread concern re roads and safety.
