Christmas campaign launched in Bedfordshire

Washroom posters for pubs and clubs, designated driver wristbands, and a staged crash are all part of a Christmas drink drive campaign launched recently in Bedfordshire.

The countywide campaign is a collaboration between Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council, Luton Borough Council, Bedfordshire Police and Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service.

Expanding on the theme of the DfT’s seasonal drink drive campaign, the partners have produced a poster for washroom mirrors in pubs and clubs, delivering the message that drink drivers will be treated like any other criminal.

They have also launched their own designated driver scheme in which participating pubs and clubs provide free cola or lemonade to drivers wearing the campaign wristband.

The campaign was launched in Bedford on 27 November with a crash reconstruction featuring local sixth form students – click here to view the video.
