Road safety teams are being invited to consider entering the CIHT Awards 2013, and in particular the CIHT Road Safety Award.

The CIHT Awards – which will be presented in June – recognise the achievements of those working in the highways and transportation sector, and promote professionalism and best practice to a wider audience.

The aim of the Road Safety Award is to identify, share and celebrate good road safety practice. Submissions that outline initiatives, schemes or products that contribute to casualty reduction are welcome, particularly where they provide outputs that can be widely applied.

The Road Safety Award is open to engineering and educational/training/publicity projects where quantifiable effects can be demonstrated either through measurement, monitoring or description.

The 2012 CIHT Road Safety Award was won by GreenRoad Technologies for making Britain’s roads safer by providing tens of thousands of commercial fleet drivers with real-time feedback on their driving performance. Using GreenRoad’s patented technology, feet managers can analyse performance by driver, team, vehicle type and route – and understand, change and reward driving behaviour and reduced fuel consumption.

The deadline for submitting entries for the CIHT Awards 2013 is 22 March.
