There are still places available for the joint Road Safety GB, Child Seat Safety and Maxi-Cosi child car seat road show, which is being held at locations across the UK throughout May.
Changes to the safety standards for child restraints are being introduced across Europe, including the introduction of the I-Size car seat standards. The road show offers road safety teams and other road safety stakeholders the chance to learn about the important changes which will begin to be introduced from June 2013.
Road Safety GB, car seat manufacturer Maxi-Cosi and Child Seat Safety are organising a road show across the UK in order to brief road safety professionals about the new legislation. The road show will visit Manchester (13/5), Glasgow (14/5), Durham (15/5), Leicester (21/5), Bristol (22/5) and London (23/5), and there are still vacancies at all locations.
The two-hour session will give participants the opportunity to listen to experts, learn about advice to give out to the public, prepare publicity material, understand what best practice should be, and ask related questions.
Julie Dagnall, Road Safety GB’s car seat specialist and co-founder of Child Seat Safety, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for road safety professionals to be prepared for the changes and to strengthen their knowledge on the new and complex safety requirements.”

Anything which makes the choice and fitting of child car seats easier, can only be an improvement. I just hope that the Government is going to disseminate the information to parents and carers as there are fewer and fewer road safety professionals to do this due to cutbacks and it is the children who will suffer.

A great move, anything that can promote safe use, and indeed use of a child car seat in some cases, can only be for the good. Keeping professionals updated with CPD is an excellent idea too.
