The long-term relationship between Road Safety GB and Colas has extended into a sixth consecutive year with Colas’ continued support for the 2015 National Road Safety Conference and the Road Safety Knowledge Centre.

*Colas – which delivers sustainable solutions for the UK’s transport infrastructure – has been sole sponsor of the Road Safety Knowledge Centre since shortly after it was launched in September 2010. The funding it has provided since then has been key to the success of the Knowledge Centre, which is used regularly as a source of reference by road safety professionals across the UK and other parts of the world. The extended arrangement will see Colas continue as sole sponsors until March 2016.

Managing occupational road risk is a long-established priority for Colas which launched its award-winning in-house road safety campaign, SAID, as long ago as 2002. The campaign was re-launched earlier this year as  *SAID+.

Colas first became involved with the National Road Safety Conference in 2010 when the event was held at Chesford Grange in Warwickshire. Since then the National Conference has gone from strength to strength and Colas has been joined by a number of other co-sponsors including AA DriveTech who have been involved since 2012.

Colas has confirmed it will sponsor the 2015 event which will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham in November 2015.

Alan Kennedy, business and operations manager for Road Safety GB, said: “The fact that Colas has been supporting two of our most important projects over several years is further confirmation of its long-term commitment to improving road safety.

“We are fortunate to have a partner who understands the ethos of the road safety profession as well as Colas does, and who provides support for all the right reasons – to help save lives and further its understanding of how to best protect its own employees when they are driving.”

Lee Rushbrooke, chief executive at Colas, said: “Colas is extremely proud to be the sole sponsor of the Road Safety Knowledge Centre, and delighted to maintain its close association with Road Safety GB.

“We hope that our own longstanding SAID+ road safety campaign is providing a model to inspire other organisations to promote road safety for the benefit of everyone.”

*Colas and SAID+
Colas is an ambitious, award-winning business, delivering sustainable solutions for the design, building and maintenance of the UK’s transport infrastructure. Its unrivalled expertise is based on its long history and the strength derived from being part of the world-leading international Colas Group.

SAID+ is designed to improve the safety of Colas’ employees on the road, and to heighten their awareness of circumstances they can control to prevent vehicle incidents. The success of SAID+ is reflected in the halving of Colas’ vehicle collision incident frequency rate since the campaign was launched.
