A driver is facing jail after he was convicted of causing a fatal crash by letting a drink-driver take the wheel of his sports car (The Telegraph).
A jury decided that John Nichols was partly responsible for the tragedy because he could and should have prevented it. He is thought to be only the second person in legal history to be convicted of causing death by dangerous driving when not at the wheel.
Nichols allowed a fellow company director to drive them back from a day at the races after they had shared a bottle of wine. She later lost control of his Jaguar XJ8 when it hit standing water at more than 110mph.
The Jaguar smashed into a Ford Fiesta which had broken down near the central reservation, killing two people.
