FirstCar is aiming to help road safety teams deliver education to the most at-risk groups by making 100 copies of its vulnerable road user magazines available free-of-charge.
Interested local authorities can select their free magazines from three different titles, covering older drivers, cyclists and motorcyclists.
The three titles available as part of the offer are:
- FirstBike (aimed at PTW riders)
- Ultimate Guide to Cycling (cyclists of all ages and levels)
- DriveOn (aimed at older drivers)
FirstCar is also offering to arrange direct distribution to outlets such as doctors, opticians, CBT centres and cycle retailers without additional charge.
James Evans, founder of FirstCar, said: “As we emerge from three months of restricted travel, the effects of skill-fade have already been seen across our roads.
“Coupled with a sharp increase in cyclists and motorcyclists, we believe there is a small but critical window of opportunity for proactive education with the most at-risk groups – including older drivers, cyclists and motorcyclists.
“Taking older drivers as an example, it’s highly unlikely that doctors and opticians will be reporting those they are only mildly concerned about to DVLA.
“Having a stack of DriveOn magazines provides these professionals with at least some form of education and signposting for older drivers to take away and reflect on.”
Anyone who would like to take up the offer of 100 free magazines, or find out more, should contact James Evans via email or on 07800 822818.
