Free initiative for older drivers in Dorset

10.03 | 10 July 2009 |

A free road safety initiative for older drivers in Dorset will run in two locations later this month.

‘Drive55 Plus’ has been developed by Dorset County Council, the Borough of Poole and Bournemouth Borough Council and is free to anyone over the age of 55 years.

The course is designed to address the most common causes of collisions in Dorset, namely hazard perception, awareness and inappropriate use of speed.

It provides drivers with an opportunity to update their driving skills and knowledge, and helps them deal with changing road conditions, which can reduce the chance of becoming involved in a road collision.

Contact Dorset’s road safety team on 01305 224267 for further information.
