GEM gives away foil blankets with snow on the way

With the first snowfalls of winter expected in the coming week, GEM Motoring Assist is encouraging drivers to add an emergency foil blanket to their ‘winter driving kit’ – and is giving away 100 blankets to the first people to apply via its Facebook page.

David Williams, CEO of GEM, said: “An emergency foil blanket is a simple item, takes very little space and is cheap and easy to find on the internet. But it could mean the difference between life or death if trapped in your car due to severe weather.

“While we recommend people do not drive in snowy conditions, if you do have to drive make sure you are prepared. In the first instance, carry out checks on your car to reduce the risk of breakdown.

“Snow can simply and suddenly prevent you from continuing on your journey, and every year we read about hordes of motorists stranded on the road – often miles from civilisation. A foil blanket would be a very welcome item to have in your glove box in such a situation.”
