Hackney film targets young people

A road safety film ‘for young people by young people’ has been produced to warn of the potential dangers on the road.

‘Concrete Dreams’ is the result of a working partnership between Hackney’s road safety team, ACDF (African Caribbean Development Foundation), DBiz Consultancy and Abbot Street Studios.

The film was produced by ‘Make your Message Count’ – a media and communications workshop for young people in Hackney. It is designed to be used either as a stand-alone product or as part of a package of lesson plans.

The four-day workshop was set up to produce a mini road safety film to be launched through websites such as YouTube, and social networking sites. All the original material, connecting songs/music, website ideas and the promotional campaign came from the young people in the workshop.

A website has also been created which showcases the film and links into other sites for young people and professionals.
