Cornish students receive Valentine’s message

Students at Cornwall College, Camborne received a powerful road safety message as part of Cornwall County Council’s For My Girlfriend (FMG) campaign.

Cornwall County Fire Brigade demonstrated crash rescue techniques to show what being cut free from a wreckage of a car would feel like.

RSOs were on hand to talk to students and give out ‘tickets’ to direct them to the FMG website to view a viral film that forms part of the campaign.

Tamsin Ferris, RSO, says: “Through this highly visual campaign we are appealing to young male drivers to take extra care of their female passengers; we hope that this event will publicise the message to young drivers.”

The road safety unit has also mailed out campaign posters to sixth forms, colleges, pubs and clubs and various colleges and sixth forms are publicising the campaign on their intranet sites, as well displaying campaign posters around their campuses.
