A forum for road safety professionals involved in delivering performances for young road users covered a range of topics including how to increase attendance and encourage engagement, behaviour change techniques and evaluation.
Organised by FirstCar and hosted by Hertfordshire County Council, the inaugural Safe Drive Stay Alive National Forum was held in Hertford on 10 July. Attendees comprised stakeholders involved in running road safety performances for young road users, including Safe Drive Stay Alive, Learn 2 Live and Licence to Kill, who shared knowledge and best practise around how they run road safety performances in their area.
The forum covered topics including how to increase attendance, different venue options, style and length of performance and what works best, funding and sustainability, presenters and the best ways in which to encourage engagement, behaviour change techniques and group evaluation.
FirstCar’s Tom Langdown said: “The forum was very productive and we agreed that another will be held in January 2016, with a specific date to be agreed.
“We agreed to restrict the number of attendance to 25 as this will allow everyone to participate fully.”
