Brake has launched a new website, described as a ‘crucial calling-point’ for those involved in national Road Safety Week (21-27 Nov).

The website, which can be found at www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk, gives educators, community groups and road safety professionals easy access to ideas, resources and case studies based on this year’s theme: Make the Brake Pledge.

Those who register for Brake’s free action pack can download a wide range of resources from the members’ area of the website, including: guidance sheets, posters, certificates, a fact sheet, school activity sheets, selfie boards and web banners.

Now in its 20th year, Brake’s Road Safety Week is sponsored by Aviva and Specsavers and has the support of the DfT. The week encourages grassroots involvement and each year thousands of communities, schools, organisations and professionals across the UK run a wide range of road safety activities.

The theme for 2016 is ‘Make the Brake Pledge’, with the road safety charity asking people to promise to adhere to the six pledge points: Slow, Sober, Secure, Silent, Sharp and Sustainable.

Gary Rae, director of communications and campaigns at Brake, said: “Road Safety Week is a national event where we can focus on the cure, engaging with educators, professionals, community groups and other organisations, and spreading road safety messages to help save lives.

“The new Road Safety Week website is a vital tool in this engagement work, a one-stop shop where we can share information and resources that promote safer road use, and where visitors can show their commitment to road safety and sustainability by making and sharing Brake’s Pledge."
