Three experts on older driver safety will discuss the recently introduced changes to The Highway Code during a free-to-attend webinar taking place next month.
Organised by the Older Drivers Forum, the 90-minute webinar is being repeated twice – on 10 March (2pm) and 14 March (7pm).
The webinar is being hosted by Rob Heard, chair and founder of the Older Drivers Forum. He will be joined by Graham Mylward, senior road safety officer at Hampshire County Council, and PC Liz Johnson, road safety officer at Hampshire and Thames Valley Police.
Both Graham and Liz work with older drivers in their roles, the former having led Hampshire’s Driver Skills Scheme 60+ for 12 years.
The webinar will focus on three areas, including The Highway Code changes, introduced in January to help protect vulnerable road users.
It will also give an update on the findings from the Older Drivers Task Force report published in November 2021.
The report sets targets to reduce deaths and serious injuries for drivers aged over 70 years by 50% by 2030 – and a longer-term aspiration for zero deaths among this age group by 2050.
The webinar will conclude by giving advice on safe driving tips to help mature motorists carry on driving safely for longer. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to all the speakers during a Q&A section.
Each webinar will have 500 free places and requires pre-registration. There is no need to register for both as they will be identical in content.
