Delegate registration is now open for the Older Road User Conference 2019 – with an attractive early bird rate available for Road Safety GB and Academy members.

Now in its second year, the one-day conference is designed to help road safety professionals keep older people safe on the roads for longer.

The conference is once again being jointly organised by Road Safety GB in partnership with New View Consultants and the RAC Foundation – and in association with the headline sponsor Satsafe.

It is being held at the Royal Automobile Club’s prestigious Pall Mall Clubhouse in central London on 24 September 2019.

The Older Road User Conference is primarily intended for road safety and public health practitioners, police and fire and rescue officers, academics, central government employees and highways engineers.

The conference team is currently in the early stages of planning the agenda but has identified the following themes which are likely to be addressed during the day:

  • Local authority older driver assessments
  • Government Grand Challenge – an ageing society
  • Sustainable and alternative methods of travel (for older people)
  • Fitness to drive/preparing for life after driving
  • An international perspective

The inaugural conference – held in September 2018 – was attended by more than 140 delegates from across the road safety sector. In the post-event delegate survey, 73% of respondents indicated that they would attend the conference again in the future – and 80% rated it ‘excellent or good’ in terms of value for money.

Anyone interested in speaking at the conference, or wishing to know more about the agenda, should contact Nick Rawlings by email in the first instance.
