‘Own Goal’ in Bracknell

Bracknell’s road safety team staged an ‘Own Goal!’ World Cup drink drive event in Bracknell town centre on 17 June – the day before England’s second match.

Tina Housego, RSO, said: “We timed the event to catch college students, business people and the general public over the lunch period.

“To get the message out we ran a free draw based on answers provided in the campaign leaflet with the winner receiving £25 HMV vouchers. We also handed out whistles and football tags.”

35 road safety teams have supported the ‘Own Goal!’ campaign to help football fans avoid a World Cup drink drive conviction.

The campaign includes a website giving guidance about how long it can take for alcohol to pass through the body. Other campaign resources include posters, leaflets and beer mats.
