Figures released by The Co-operative Insurance reveal that 55% of young drivers have got behind the wheel under the influence of drink or illegal drugs.
Of 2,079 drivers under the age of 25 polled online, 1,143 admitted driving under the influence.
David Neave, The Co-operative Insurance, said: “These figures are very concerning especially with reports warning that illegal drug use in the UK is on the increase.”
