Presentation will provide young driver insight

A study which provides an insight into young driver behaviour will feature in the ‘topical topics’ session at the National Road Safety Conference later this year.

Natalie Oakley, from the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership, received excellent feedback when she presented on the same topic at the Young Driver Focus event in May 2014, with 93% of delegates rating her presentation as ‘excellent or good’.

The Partnership is conducting a programme of awareness and behavioural change among young drivers (17-24) in the county. The programme began with two phases of research among local young drivers, following which a campaign was developed in conjunction with students from Gloucestershire College.

This presentation will cover the key elements of the research and the intervention that was developed on the back of the findings. It will provide a fascinating insight into the psyche of young drivers, and the wide differences between drivers aged 17-19yrs and those aged 20-24yrs. For the younger group, the car is often a venue in its own right, while for the older group it is a means of getting around.

Natalie Oakley is responsible for all marketing and engagement output across the Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership including strategic marketing planning, digital and social media, events, marketing communications and brand management, customer research and evaluation and all road safety campaigning.
