What’s happening on the final day of Project EDWARD?
Sadly, tomorrow is the final day of the Project EDWARD week of action. So much has taken place during the last four days – but it is not over yet.
Tomorrow, the three road trips complete their journeys.
Car one arrives in Heston, where the PE team will be meeting the emergency services who work together under the National Highways CLEAR programme.
They will explain how they clear a serious road traffic accident as quickly and safely as possible to ensure the fastest post-crash care for casualties and to get other traffic on their way.
Car three will be at a motorway service area in Durham for a public engagement event with Durham County Council and their road safety partners. One of the cabs from the National Highways Operation Tramline project will be also be patrolling locally and joining the event.
The itinerary for car two remains TBC…

Put it away and stay focussed on the road
It’s tempting to look at messages when you’re driving – put it away and stay focused on the road! You miss a lot while glancing at your phone. At 30mph a car travels 100 feet in 2.3 seconds 📵 #ProjectEDWARD pic.twitter.com/dXdlAmvUrZ

RSGB NE message to keep cyclists safe
Cyclists, the days are shortening and the weather is becoming a bit more unpredictable. Bike lights could help drivers to see you if the conditions suddenly change. Put them on when you’re heading out.

In-vehicle infotainment systems ’cause too much distraction’
We know that in-vehicle infotainment systems cause too much distraction. Now is the time to make a distraction standard part of safe systems thinking to help technology producers design better user interfaces.https://t.co/dKb9fDOqaz @IAMRoadSmart#ProjectEDWARD pic.twitter.com/EAaLyXw62h

Highlighting the importance of safe vehicles
When we talk about safe vehicles… we may think first of tyres and brakes. The load is just as important and a great example here of how easily things can go wrong if not done properly. #ProjectEDWARD https://t.co/nLHth8WBVv
