Know the zones
Follow these steps when trying to overtake an HGV:
✔️ Move quickly and safely past the HGV
✔️ Allow plenty of room and do not linger alongside the HGV
✔️ Move back to the left as soon as you can but do not cut in▶️ https://t.co/KATiotuTgD#KnowTheZones #ProjectEDWARD pic.twitter.com/OSsRDOTZkc

Speeding devastates lives
Speeding devastates lives and destroys families.
Please watch Mandy’s story. She tells us how her daughter Anisha was killed by a driver travelling at more than 60mph in a 30mph zone.

Latest from the RoadPeace Challenge
On Day 4 of the #RoadPeaceChallenge 2023, we’re focusing on the need for #Slower #Speeds to Enable #ActiveTravel. We’re encouraged to travel actively as much as possible, but do #cyclists, #parents with #children, #dogwalkers, #horseriders and others feel safe to do so? #UNGRSW pic.twitter.com/ANq94NuEid

It could save a life
Pedestrians are much more likely to survive a road collision if the car is travelling at 30mph or less.
Drivers, slow down, drive below the speed limit and look out – it could save a life.

Safe road users the theme for today
@ProjectEdward turns to Safe Road Users today & the need for shared responsibility when it comes to preventing death & serious injury on our network. The Partnership uses education, enforcement & engineering to deter dangerous behaviour but we can’t do this alone. We need you! pic.twitter.com/g4dEMYMx5M

Where are the road trips heading today?
Day four of the three Project EDWARD road trips is upon us.
Car one heads west to Exeter. In partnership with Moto Services, National Highways and Gridserve are hosting an event to demonstrate the importance of planning journeys to help improve range confidence in electric vehicles and take planned rests.
This event is open to the public.
Car two is in Aylesbury, where the local road safety partnership will look at the challenges and support that exists for older drivers. The event has multi-agency attendance, including Bucks Council cabinet member with transport portfolio – David King (deputy).
Meanwhile car three is making to stops in South Yorkshire. First up is Rotherham, where the Project EDWARD team will see the latest road safety facilities at the LifeWise Centre.
Later in the afternoon, they’ll head to a school in Doncaster to visit a mini-police station and participate in activities with the pupils.
