The Road Safety GB Academy has announced dates and venues for a number of new courses, all of which are now open for booking.
Covering topics including behavioural change, media training, social media and evaluation, the courses are part of the Academy’s remit to provide opportunities for continued professional development (CPD) to all practitioners engaged in road safety.
The courses, dates, locations and fees are as follows:
Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course (four days)
This course aims to provide participants with an overview of the knowledge and skills they need to effectively and safely deliver a road safety educational intervention. The course fee is £350 for RSGB/Academy members and £500 (both plus VAT) for non-members.
The Foundation Course will be held in Chorley, Lancs on 15-16 Sept (part one); in Bedford on 10-11 Oct (part one); and in Corby, Northants on 3-4 Nov (part one).

Behavioural Change Course (one day)
This course is designed to give road safety practitioners an insight into the world of behavioural change models and techniques, and how interventions can be developed that will look at the underlying issues associated with risk related behaviour, and ultimately collisions. The fee for RSGB & Academy members is £110 and for non-members £170 (both plus VAT).
The Behavioural Change Course will be held in Inverarie, Scotland on 19 Oct; South Gloucestershire on 24 Nov; Bradford on 3 Nov (course already full); and Llandrindod Wells in Wales on 8 Nov (course already full).

Media Training (two days)
This course covers a wide range of topics including the media landscape, the role of PR & media management, writing for news and interview scenarios including TV/OB and radio. The fee for RSGB & Academy Members is £275 and for non-members £450 (both plus VAT).
The Media Training Course will be held in Catford, South London on 26-27 Sep.

Social Media (two days)
This course covers a wide range of topics including an introduction and history of social media, social media grandees and niche networks, building a fan base and measuring and evaluating impact. The fee for RSGB & Academy Members is £195 and for non-members £350 (both plus VAT).
The Social Media Course will take place in Ashford (day 1) & Aylesford (day 2) on 10-11 Jan 2017.

Road Safety Evaluation (two days)
This course covers a wide range of topics including reasons for evaluation, E-Valu-It, before and after studies, and how to plan and pilot an evaluation. The fee for RSGB & Academy Members is £195 and for non-members £350 (both plus VAT).
The Road Safety Evaluation course will take place in Hertford on 24-25 January 2017.
