RSGB webinar to look at e-scooter trial evaluation

12.57 | 5 December 2023 |

The next webinar for Road Safety GB members will explore the evaluation of the West of England e-scooter trial.

The webinar, which takes place at 12pm on Monday 18 December, is being facilitated by Dr Jonathan Flower, transport planner and researcher at the Centre for Transport and Society, UWE Bristol. Dr Flower recently presented on the same topic at the National Road Safety Conference 2023 – see pic above.

Registration is now open for the webinar, which takes place on Zoom and will last for approximately 45 minutes.

The on-going e-scooter trial in the West of England is the largest of its kind in the UK and has the highest ridership levels. It incorporates a hop-on-hop-off rental scheme across South Gloucestershire, Bristol and Bath, as well as a long-term hire scheme for local residents.

The trial was evaluated by the University of the West of England in the latter part of 2022. This webinar will present the findings on safety, making national and international comparisons and a review of different data sets.

It will also share findings from observational data collected of interactions between e-scooters in the public highway with other road users, and a comparison of e-scooter and cycle use.

Registration is now open – and is free for employees of Road Safety GB member organisations and RSGB Academy members only.

If you are unsure about your membership status, please register at the above link and Road Safety GB will cross check its membership database before confirming your place.
