For a second consecutive month, in August 2012 the Road Safety Knowledge Centre attracted a record number of visits and visitors.
Launched in September 2010, the ‘Knowledge Centre’ is a comprehensive online directory of road safety information and resources. It is owned and managed by Road Safety GB and financially supported by Colas.
In August, the Knowledge Centre received 2,652 visits, narrowly breaking the previous record of 2,646 in July 2012. These visits were made by 1,279 unique visitors, compared with the previous record of 1,216 the month prior.
Access to the Knowledge Centre is free of charge and available to all. There are currently 3,072 subscribers, 418 member organisations and 1,789 items listed in the Knowledge Centre. The Help Forum in the Knowledge Centre has received 272 help requests which have generated 1,152 responses.
Nick Rawlings, Knowledge Centre project manager, said: “It is perhaps surprising that the Knowledge Centre has attracted a record number of visits during August, when many road safety professionals are on holiday.
“On the other hand, it is perhaps a time of year when those at work are a little less busy and have more time for browsing and desk research."
