After a three-year hiatus, Road Safety GB is delighted to announce the return of the National Road Safety Conference.

Road Safety GB’s flagship event has not been held since 2019, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, amid much excitement, the event returns this week (9-10 Nov) at The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.

It is sponsored by Jenoptik, National Highways and Westcotec and more than 300 people have booked to attend, including with 20 exhibitors.

James Gibson, Road Safety GB’s executive director, said: “It’s going to be wonderful to be back at an in person National Conference.

“We will have around 300 people in attendance, with presentations and workshops delivered by almost 60 speakers and facilitators.

“We have a brilliant range of exhibitors and it will be so good to catch up with people face-to-face rather than online. It really is all set to be a great couple of days.”

National Conference 2022 is being organised by Road Safety GB Yorkshire & Humber region. It will be the second time the conference has been held in Harrogate, with the 2013 event also staged at the same venue.

While much of the formula that has proven successful over the years remains the same for 2022, there are a couple of tweaks to the timings, based on feedback from previous attendees.

The conference will commence earlier on day one (9 Nov), at 11.00, while the final afternoon will comprise a series of optional workshops which delegates have been invited to pre-register to attend.

Anyone who does not wish attend a workshop will be free to depart after lunch on day two (10 Nov).

The following topics and themes will be covered the agenda, the full version of which is available on the National Conference website:

  • Keynote presentations by Road Safety GB, DfT and National Highways
  • Road safety research
  • What’s on the horizon?
  • The road to Vision Zero
  • Influencing road user behaviour
  • Topical topics

The popular ‘speed dating’ session, Question Time and Fringe programme have also been retained.

The registration process is still open for anyone looking to make a last-minute booking – day delegates only at this late stage please.
