Tyre safety information provided for drivers

08.42 | 6 July 2011 |

TyreSafe has developed a range of information leaflets to help its road safety partners explain to drivers and businesses how and why they should carry out regular checks on their vehicle’s tyres.

Despite advances in vehicle technology, tyres remain the only point of contact between the vehicle and the road, and therefore play a critical role in road safety.

However, TyreSafe says that many drivers remain unaware of their responsibilities towards their tyres, and each year hundreds of drivers are killed or seriously injured in accidents where illegal or defective tyres were a contributory factor.

To help drivers understand some of the key tyre issues for their vehicle, along with some practical tips and advice to overcome these problems, TyreSafe has developed a suite of safety advice leaflets for cars, vans, motorcycles, trucks and caravans.
