Volvo unveils technology for pedestrian avoidance

14.42 | 2 October 2009 |

The next generation of preventive safety technology from vehicle manufacturer Volvo can detect a pedestrian who has walked out in front of the car.

The system can also automatically brake to avoid a person at speeds below 15 mph if the driver does not react in time.

Concurrent with the launch of the new Volvo S60 in 2010, the company plans to introduce ‘collision warning with full auto brake and pedestrian safety’.
