National Conference 2022 – workshop registration now open

Registration is now open for a series of optional workshops being held on the final afternoon of the 2022 National Road Safety Conference.

The six workshops, which are strictly for National Conference attendees, are being held on Thursday 10 November, 14.00 – 15.30 (latest).

Registration is open and each workshop is limited to around 15 participants and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The workshops are as follows:

THINK & TAILOR like a Behavioural Scientist & you will TRANSFORM
Participants will come away with an understanding of how to think like a Behavioural Scientist, how to tailor to your audience – and why this will result in a higher chance of transforming behaviour.

Automated vehicles: interaction with onboard users, and other road users
For automated vehicles (AVs) to be successfully deployed, it is important to understand the interaction between the onboard users and the AVs and the interaction between other road users and AVs.

Thinking beyond the school gates – how Behavioural Science can help you understand the real barriers to active travel
This workshop is ideal for practitioners looking to work in innovative ways to improve road safety, modal shift and achieve sustainable travel goals.

A bespoke apprenticeship for road safety professionals
This workshop will introduce a new bespoke qualification for road safety professionals, developed by Road Safety GB and Eden Training Solutions as part of the Government’s apprenticeship scheme.

A non-teacher’s guide to planning and delivering a road safety lesson
This workshop will cover lesson planning, learning styles, delivery styles, audience engagement, classroom management and evaluation potential.

Obtaining grants for road safety initiatives
This workshop will provide a walk through the Road Safety Trust application process and offer some do’s and don’ts when it comes to preparing a bid.

More information on each workshop is available via the National Conference website.

Please be aware that the main and fringe programmes both finish after lunch at 14.00 on Thursday 10 November – so the workshops are the only activity taking place that afternoon.

National Conference 2022 is being held in Harrogate on 9-10 November. The event is organised by Road Safety GB and supported by National Highways, Jenoptik and Westcotec. Around 290 people have already registered to attend.
