Tanya Fosdick, Dr Liz Box, Ruth Purdie OBE and Heidi Duffy MBE are among the initial tranche of confirmed speakers at a conference focusing on rider safety to be held early next year.

The one-day conference, hosted by Road Safety GB, will be held at the National Motorcycle Museum, located close to the NEC near Birmingham, on Thursday 13 February 2025.

Delegate fees are £110 for Road Safety GB members and £160 for non-members, both plus VAT.

The conference will set out to showcase new safety initiatives and campaigns within the sector, and discuss the challenging issue of how riders fit into the Safe System.

Tanya Fosdick (Agilysis) and Dr Elizabeth Box (ECM Research Solutions) will deliver a joint presentation looking at ‘evaluating interventions through crash analysis and international best practice’.

The presentation is based on research commissioned by National Highways that reviews post-licence motorcycle interventions in Great Britain. With motorcyclists identified as a vulnerable road user group due to their overrepresentation in serious injury collisions, the study sets out to better understand and improve the safety of these road users.

Meanwhile, Ruth Purdie OBE, CEO of UKRoED, will present the National Rider Risk Awareness Course, while Heidi Duffy MBE will discuss the National Young Rider Forum – full details to follow.

The conference will also provide networking opportunities for road safety professionals with an interest in motorcyclists and bring local authorities and the private and third sectors closer together.

There is also the opportunity for a small number of organisations to exhibit alongside the conference, for less than £1,000 plus VAT. For more details please contact Nick Rawlings by email in the first instance.
