The DVSA has launched a new eLearning course designed to help drivers reduce anxiety, boost confidence and drive safely.

The Official DVSA Guide to Better Driving eLearning course is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Doctor Lisa Dorn, associate professor of driver behaviour at Cranfield University.

Through interactive exercises and videos, course users will explore the influence of mood and attitude on their driving, and learn practical strategies for dealing with stressful situations, including roundabouts, junctions, adverse weather conditions and driving at night.

They will also keep up to date with the latest rules on speed, drink and drug-driving, and mobile phones.

It is suitable for drivers of all abilities, from learner car drivers and their driving instructors to professional drivers of vans, large goods vehicles, buses and coaches.

A second edition of the book is also available, with significant updates to the text. These include an in-depth look at advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and driver safety, the hierarchy of road users, and anxiety management for learner drivers.

The DVSA has also launched a short course, aimed at winter driving.

The Official DVSA Guide to Winter Driving eLearning course includes sections on journey planning and vehicle maintenance, as well as tips and advice for driving in wet, snowy and icy conditions.

DVSA eLearning courses are pre-approved for Driver CPC training hours and the Better Driving course counts towards CPD for ADIs.

All eLearning for business prices can be found via the Safe Driving for Life website.

Meanwhile, The Stationery Officer (TSO) can offer free trials, demos and bespoke eLearning packages. Fill out the following form to find out more: DVSA eLearning for business contact form.
