Road Safety GB and Project EDWARD announce plans for rapid-response webinar to follow Road Safety Strategy

Road Safety GB and Project EDWARD have announced plans to collaborate on a special joint webinar that will be convened within 48 hours of the Government’s long-awaited road safety strategy being published.

The session will provide an immediate opportunity for road safety professionals nationwide to understand the new policy’s key proposals and potential implications.

Both organisations recognise that people have demanding schedules and that a hastily-arranged event might normally be greeted with surprise or hesitation.

However, the leadership teams at Project EDWARD and Road Safety GB share the view that the rapid release of professional insight is too important to delay. This webinar will serve as a timely platform to digest and discuss how the strategy could reshape the road safety landscape in the short, medium, and long term.

While the details are yet to emerge, expectations suggest the strategy may include renewed commitments to Vision Zero principles, enhanced investment in active travel infrastructure, expanded use of intelligent speed assistance technology and stronger collaboration between national and local authorities to tackle high-risk routes and behaviours.

James Gibson, executive director of Road Safety GB, said: “The publication of this strategy is likely to mark a pivotal moment for the road safety sector. We want to ensure that everyone involved in saving lives on our roads is equipped with the very latest information as soon as it’s available.”

James Luckhurst, founder of Project EDWARD, added: “We are determined to provide a fast, clear and professional response that supports those working across all sectors of road safety.”

The provisional date for this 90-minute live webinar is Friday 30 January 2026, from 8-9:30am. The date will be moved forward immediately on publication of the strategy, or, if it remains unpublished by then, deferred to late March.
