CFOA fires up National Road Safety Week

12.00 | 25 March 2013 |

The Chief Fire Officers Association has unveiled plans for CFOA National Road Safety Week 2013 which will coincide with the second UN Global Road Safety Week (6 – May 2013).

Working with road safety professionals, police and other stakeholders, CFOA plans to run road safety events at locations across the UK including motorway services, town centres, petrol stations, supermarkets, shopping centres and schools.

The focus for the Week is young people, with two key messages: ‘Let’s look out for each other’ for young children and pedestrians, and ‘Distraction to destruction’ for young drivers and the impact on pedestrians.

CFOA describes the week as “a great opportunity for the fire and rescue service to work with partners to deliver a strong, coordinated road safety message across the UK”.

National Road Safety Week will be the subject of an article in the May issue of Fire magazine and CFOA is also hoping to use twitter to make people aware of events, utilising the hashtags: #bebrightbeseen #distractiontodestruction and #nationalroadsafetyweek.
