The agenda for the 2018 Data Analysts’ Conference is continuing to take shape, with a number of speakers and topics now confirmed.
Organised by Road Safety GB in partnership with Road Safety Analysis, the third edition of ‘Joining the Dots’ will take place in London on 27 February 2018.
Under the theme ‘Making Data the Common Language of Road Safety’, the 2018 conference will once again bring together collision and casualty data analysts and those who work in connected fields – including fire and rescue services, academic institutions and public health.
The conference will open with a session titled, ‘Innovation in Collision Analysis’, which will include a presentation by Suzy Charman, research director at the Road Safety Foundation.
Ms Charman will look at reactive and proactive risk analysis, using collision and survey data to identify appropriate countermeasures.
The other two topics to be explored during this session are ‘Safer Cities – Comparing risk to vulnerable road users on a global level’ and ‘Assessing the impact of suicide on the roads and reported statistics’.
The second morning session is titled ‘Using Other Transport Data Sources’, and includes the following presentations:
- Traffic Speed and Flow Data; New tools to analyse minute-by-minute data on the SRN in England (Dr Ivo Wengraf, research and data manager, RAC Foundation)
- Data Driving Safety, what telematics has taught us about driver risk (Dr Sam Chapman, director, The Floow)
- Data for a Smart City (Laurence Oakes Ashe, CEO, City Science)
