Four schools in Medway will have new bike parking areas installed thanks to a grant of more than £30,000 from Cycling England and Sustrans.

Maundene Primary School, St Margaret’s at Troy Town Primary, Twydall Juniors and Rainham Mark Grammar will all have bike parks installed over the winter months.

Cllr Phil Filmer, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for front line services, said: “We are extremely pleased to have secured this funding so that more students have the option to cycle to school, and when they get to school have a safe place to store their bike.”

Medway Council’s Safer Journeys Team submitted the winning bid as part of the Bikeability scheme. All local council’s that deliver Bikeability were invited by Cycling England to bid for the grant to install the bike parks at schools in their area.
