Julie Dagnall and Claire Waterhouse, who between them have nearly 50 years’ experience in child car seat safety, have been recognised for their efforts to reduce child in-car casualties.

The pair, who co-own Child Seat Safety and are Road Safety GB’s national advisors for child car seats, won the Entrepreneur of the Year category at the at the 2016 Lancashire Women in Business Awards (25 Nov).

Child Seat Safety provides an IOSH-accredited qualification aimed at anyone who gives advice or sells child car seats. The company claims this is ‘the UK’s only recognised training course on child seat safety awareness’.

The company also provides a range of initiatives relating to transporting children safely, including car seat checking events, enforcement campaigns, bespoke training and publicity.

Julie Dagnall said: “It was a complete surprise as we didn’t even realise we were in with a chance of being given this accolade. Nonetheless we are thrilled that we won.

“Our area of expertise is about protecting children whilst they travel, so we have and will continue to spread the word through our work. Nothing is more important to us than the precious cargo we all transport every day.”
