Christmas campaign highlights the cost of drink/drug driving

Medway Council and Kent Police are working together this Christmas to highlight the dangers of driving while under the influence of drink and drugs.

The joint campaign features posters from the DfT’s national drink-drive campaign and banners with the message: "How much will your next round cost you?".

Cllr Phil Filmer, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for front line services, said: "Having one drink will affect your driving and could mean the difference between a happy Christmas or a miserable one."

PC Andy Ledger, roads policing officer, said: “We want to work with motorists, not against them. We want them to drive safely and to go home to their loved ones unharmed and for other road users to be able to do the same.

"I cannot emphasise enough that there is no way to calculate how much alcohol you have in your system, so don’t try. The only safe amount to drink if you’re driving is none; nominate a designated driver if you’re with friends, or arrange alternative transport to get you home safely."
