DfT to invite applications from prospective Bikeability ITOs

12.00 | 11 December 2012 |

The DfT is to open an application process for organisations interested in becoming a Bikeability Instructor Training Organisation (ITO).

ITOs are the only organisations recognised by the Government as providing high quality training and ongoing development services for national standard instructor trainers, instructors and assistant instructors.

An application process undertaken in 2010 resulted in 17 ITOs being recognised. At that time, the DfT highlighted the possibility of having future application windows to recognise other organisations as ITOs.

The 2012/13 application process will be managed by Steer Davies Gleave on behalf of the DfT and will comprise the following stages:

  • Stage 1: Submission of expression of interest;
  • Stage 2: Submission of paper based application;
  • Stage 3: Practical assessment of instructor training delivery.

Full details of the process and the criteria on which assessment of the applications will be based will be released week commencing 17 December and we will publish a follow up news item as soon as we receive this information.
