Essex County Council’s road safety team has put together a programme of events to assist employers, drivers and riders to manage the risks associated with driving while on company business.

The 2010/11 programme comprises seminars and workshops aimed at different road users. All seminars and workshops are offered free of charge and are supported by resources.

The business road risk seminar is for those using company or personal vehicles for business. Information is provided on the legal requirements to comply with legislation including the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Corporate Manslaughter Act.

The full-day operator seminar is for those running fleets of HGV and PSV vehicles. It includes topics such as the Corporate Manslaughter Act, Graduated Fixed Penalties and Immobilisation, Driver CPC Qualification and Eco-driving Solutions.

The full-day young driver/rider workshop addresses the issues facing young drivers and riders on company business. The workshop comprises a theory session followed by a practical driving/riding assessment.

Community wheels business days provide road safety education and advice direct to employees. This in-house event can be delivered on-site to cover at work road safety policies and general road safety messages.
